Spring clean your skincare routine
- Check expiration dates
It’s a good idea to remember to do this at least twice a year—and what better time than spring? Makeup and skin care products do expire, and if you keep using it, you risk breakouts and bacterial infections.
Be sure to check your moisturiser and sun cream for an expiration date. If anything is expired, or you’re in doubt, throw it out!
Claudia Fallah tip: There is no need to save your favourite skincare products just because they are expensive. Having expensive products shouldnt mean 'saving' them for treating yourself or because it feels very precious and special to you. The moment you have opened your products please enjoy using them. Most skincare products have a little jar showing which will normally advise a 6-12 month period.
Time goes fast so please be aware of when you have first opened your product.
- Wash your brushes
Makeup brushes are prime breeding grounds for bacteria. If you use your brushes every day, you should be washing them every week.
Claudia Fallah tip: Keep your face towel clean and change them atleast once a week too.
Throw out expired products and take an honest look at what’s left. Get rid of anything that you never use as sooner or later it is going to go out of date anyway.
- Always wear SPF
Cloudy or sunny, hot or cold, wearing SPF should be part of your daily routine, especially during the spring and summer (check expiry dates).
Claudia Fallah tip: it's important to take care of your skin with a high SPF in order not to risk uneven skin tones, discolouration and premature ageing.
- Have a facial
With the temperatures and humidity increasing, now is the time to treat yourself to a facial.
Claudia Fallah tip: It's always a great treat to have a facial but also your skincare expert will be able to advise you on if you need to make any changes to your skincare routine, lifestyle or facial treatment to keep your skin in the best condition it can be and get maximum benefits out of your skincare regime and facial treatment.
